Who We Are

Whitcomb Terpening, MSW, LCSW-S
(she/her/hers)

Hi, I'm Whitcomb.

Professionally, I am a clinical suicidologist, a clinical social worker and social work supervisor, a doctoral student at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and I serve on the Board of the Behavioral Health & Suicide Prevention Task Force in Montgomery County, TX. I am also the Founder of The Semicolon Group PLLC, an outpatient therapy practice that works exclusively with suicide and the only practice of its kind in the United States. I have focused my entire clinical training on understanding the intricacies of suicide and working with suicide intensity.

“Growing up” in this field, I was met with gap after gap after gap: gaps in suicide care, gaps in clinical training specifically related to suicidology, gaps in available clinical consultation. I had to forge my own path and advocate like hell the entire way. This site exists to cut out some of those gaps for you. I can’t promise I have all the answers (I am a fellow imperfect human, after all!), but I can promise that you’ll have a partner in this and that you won’t have to do this alone. I’m excited to join with you in this work.
